Barack Obama's home church in Chicago, Trinity United Church of Christ, where Obama committed himself to God as a young adult, and whose activist pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Right, has in the past supported the Palestinian movement, may be quite a water cooler topic leading up to next year's primaries and eventually the presidential election. Interestingly, based on what I read in this article, Obama's church ties may be the thing that eventually brings him closer to the black community, yet drives Evangelical and pro-Israel supporters somewhat farther away. And yes, this appears to be a complete contradiction to my post yesterday suggesting
Obama could actually unite Evangelicals.
