A new AP-AOL poll shows overwhelming support for increasing minimum wage (80%), and a majority (56%) favoring easing of federal restrictions on embryonic stem cell research. I think the first issue will be a non-starter by the time the election comes around, since the Dems obviously are already for this, and the Republicans would be crazy to take the other side. On the other hand, embryonic stem cell research is still highly controversial and the majority opinion even now is not so overwhelming. Combs predicts this issue will be a hot topic, even more so than in the '06 mid-term elections.
